Lifetime Quote

" Our hearts have always longed to love,
but never have been free of fear."
So we have always put aside
our natural compassion
and bowed before productivity,
and security
and safety." - William Martin

Moving IN

Creating works of writing art is hard, discipined work. Writing is a personal, devotional practice. How can I not turn my full attention into its embracing arms when it contains the totality of Me?

Writing has become this place for me. Thank you, Art, for living and breathing in me so I can aspire to create life art for all to enjoy.

Process II

No one values Process more than the artist. The artist knows it is the spine of Process where discovery transforms into joy. Long live Process. There is no greater wonder than this to the ever-evolving being called the artist.

Process

Accept everything in Process. Great art is created when Process is honored because everything in Process serves the final art called Form.

Stand-Alone

Enjoy the singular beauty of each day. Refrain the need to impose repetition. Let each day stand-alone. You will come to understand the true meaning of beauty. Each day contains its own flow, its own breath, its own power. Glory unflowers daily onto anyone who cares to listen.

Places & Spaces - Negotiation 101

We all need places and spaces in our lives where we can go and find the rhythm of our voice. It is our responsibility, and ours alone, to create our own unique portals of expression. Only we can ever truly know what it is that we need -- in what way, shape, size, quantity and volume that speaks to our growing spirit within.

Places & spaces vary to accommodate the ever-changing shifting seasons within. So, march on soldier, and create the places & spaces you hunger for. Fit them into your life, come hell or high water. You'll be glad you did.

Community

A community is Spirit, enlarged. That is, a community is any place or space that enlarges spirit.

Sprint Writer

I am a sprint writer. I write in the form of a 50-yard dash. I run to the end of a thought and call it writing. Well, it's feels more like a writing prayer than anything else. But let's just call it writing for now so I don't feel like a complete loser.

I've been feeling like it was time for me to a shot at a 100-yard dash. So, miraculously I just finished my first short story. Repeat -- finished! Not started and I'll get back to it later as 72 weeks go by and it's still sitting there while I have start several new ones. Actually D-O-N-E and gotta tell you, DONE feels rather good. I'm celebrating done - doesn't always come easy in creative process.

Feels like I've dropped 10 lbs (though I am actually struggling to drop 5) but that's a whole another story. For now, mission accomplished and I'm going to soak in the aura of my own done-ness for a seriously short possibly seriously long while....

Thirst4Me

Heaven knows we are strangers unto ourselves.

Thirst4writing is a place I go to hear the sound of myself. Through myself I can hear right through to the other side. All sides point to the thirst within. The sound that holds the echoes of my own voice, is like a path, leading me back to Self - the silent place that holds all my selves.

Space Called Art

Art + writing = Sanity. 'nuff said.

Pores

As writers and artists, our pores are always open. Sometimes we have to shut them down...for our own good so we can practice our art. As we learn more of who we are through the practice of practicing MORE of who we are, more or less now appears as our NEW practice.

Solo Artist

Biking this morning, enjoying a picture postcard day. Spotted a bird beauty perched high atop high wire. Solo Artist -- singing her song. She didn't seem to care whether anyone was listening. I was the lucky one who stumbled on her song. Decided right then and there, we all need to be like our little bird - solo artists carrying on. Doesn't matter if anyone is listening. Should anyone happen to eavesdrop on our song, then THEY are the lucky ones ...
